Bill Teegins was one of the leading figures in Oklahoma's sports media. He was selected as the state's Sportscaster of the Year nine times while the sports director at KWTV in Oklahoma City. A graduate of Tulsa University, Teegins began his broadcasting career in 1975 in Amarillo, Texas. He started as a newscaster, but soon found his calling in sports and moved back to his home town of Tulsa in 1981 to work for KOTV. Six years later he moved to Oklahoma City and KWTV, where he served for 13 years. The award winning broadcaster was one of 10 people who tragically died in a plane crash returning from a basketball game in Colorado on January 27, 2001.
