Bob Kurland was basketball’s first true big man when he joined the Oklahoma State University (Oklahoma A & M) basketball team in 1942. He played for Henry Iba and led the Aggies to two national championships. He helped the Aggies compile a 99-22 record during his college career and set several collegiate scoring records. He remains the only three-time OSU Basketball All-American and earned Olympic gold medals in 1948 and 1952.  Kurland had a chance to join the NBA, then in its early years, but he opted to play with the Phillips 66ers.
